PUPPY AND ADOLESCENT DOG TRAINING

Give your puppy the gentlest, most positive start with calm, in‑home sessions focused on life skills, confidence and safe social exposure. This one‑on‑one package is designed to support both you and your puppy through the big early weeks at home.

Who Puppy Essentials is for

  • Puppies aged 8-24 weeks
  • Guardians who value force‑free, reward‑based training and are willing to practice short sessions at home between lessons.

What we work on

  • Every day foundations: name response, sit, down, settle on a mat, start of stay/wait and beginning of leash skills.
  • Life skills: handling for vet/groomer, mat training and calm behaviour around people and other dogs.
  • Home life: toilet training support, mouthing/biting, jumping, chewing, stealing, and appropriate play with children and other animals.

Focus Areas:

  • Early socialisation done right: age‑appropriate exposure to people, dogs, environments, sounds and handling during the critical 3-14 week window and beyond, without flooding.
  • Calm and self‑control: teaching puppies polite greetings, to settle, to leave things, and to think instead of just reacting.
  • Confidence and resilience: introducing novel surfaces, objects, sounds and handling so pups learn the world is safe and manageable.
  • Handler skills: coaching you to read body language, use reinforcement cleanly and set up routines and environments that make good choices easy.

Program structure / pricing

  • 5‑week package, 1 x 45-minute to 60‑minute session per week, at your property (Armidale and surrounds).
  • Investment: $300 (includes owner coaching, personalised plan and between‑session support).
  • Additional sessions: available at $60/session once your initial program is complete.

Next Steps

  1. Submit an enquiry form so I can learn about you and your dog, and which service you’re interested in. I’ll then send you some forms to fill in and a booking link to confirm your spot.

Navigate the “teenage” phase with a structured, positive program that channels your young dog’s energy into focus and good choices. This one‑on‑one package is designed to support your “teenage” dog through big brain changes so you can rebuild reliability and keep life feeling manageable.

Who Adolescent Confidence is for

  • Dogs roughly 6-18 months who have done some basics (or did a puppy course) but are now hitting the “teenager” phase - more pulling, less listening, bigger reactions.
  • Guardians who want force‑free, reward‑based training focused on confidence, impulse control and real‑life skills rather than quick‑fix obedience.
  • Adolescent dogs who are worried, over‑excited or frustrated on lead, around people/dogs, or in new places, and need help feeling safe and capable.

What we work on

  • Core manners under distraction: recall, loose‑lead walking, settle on a mat/place, polite greetings and “off” for jumping on furniture.
  • Emotional regulation: lowering arousal, building the ability to pause, think and respond instead of react (barking, lunging, grabbing, zoomies).
  • Cooperative life skills: handling (vet/groomer), husbandry, confidence around novel environments, sounds, surfaces and everyday triggers.
  • Relationship & communication - teaching you to read dog body language, respond to stress signals early and reinforce the behaviours you do want.

  • 5‑week package, 1 x 45-minute to 60‑minute session per week, at your property (Armidale and surrounds)

Whether you’ve adopted an adult dog or want to polish up manners, this program focuses on building reliable, real‑life skills using positive reinforcement. Ideal for “never had training,” “we did puppy school years ago,” or “things have slipped a bit.”

Who Adult Success is for

  • Dogs over 12 months who need a solid reset or upgrade on everyday manners
  • Friendly or generally manageable dogs whose main challenges are skills, routines, and consistency, rather than complex aggression or severe behaviour concerns.

What we work on

  • Polishing core life skills like recall, loose‑lead walking, calm greetings, and settling so they work in real‑world situations, not just in the lounge room.
  • Rebuilding everyday structure and routines that support better behaviour - clear expectations at the door, around food, on walks, and during rest times.

Focus areas

  • Attention and engagement: responding to cues, checking in around distractions, and choosing you over the environment.
  • Leash skills: walking on a loose leash, navigating past people and dogs when appropriate, and reducing pulling without using aversive tools.
  • Calm behaviour: default sit or mat/bed behaviours, polite greetings, and realistic settle routines for busy homes.
  • Problem‑solving everyday challenges: jumping, grabby behaviour, door‑darting, or difficulty switching off, approached through management and positive reinforcement.

Program structure / pricing

  • 5‑week package, 1 x 45-minute to 60‑minute session per week, at your property (Armidale and surrounds)
  • Investment: $325 (includes owner coaching, personalised plan and between‑session support).

I strongly believe that guardians should be the trainers; however, I also recognise that life can sometimes be so overwhelmingly busy. This is where day trains can become the best option for your dog and your busy life.

*You are not required to be home for every trainer‑only session, but regular coaching and transfer sessions are built in so you stay in the loop and feel confident using the new behaviours.

Who Day Training is for

  • Dogs aged 9+ months who do well one‑on‑one at home or on familiar routes, including those who find group classes overwhelming but are ready to learn with a kind, science‑based approach.
  • Busy guardians who want their dog to learn practical life skills but can’t realistically fit in all the daily training themselves.

Focus areas

  • Foundation behaviours: sit, down, mat/settle, hand targets, name response, and “leave it” to support later learning and more advanced skills.
  • Out‑and‑about skills: loose‑lead walking, check‑ins, recalls, and appropriate responses around common triggers like people, dogs, vehicles, and environmental noise.
  • Real‑life fluency: practising skills where they matter - at your home, on your usual walking routes, and in everyday contexts when they are ready.

Program structure / pricing

  • Required initial consultation: 60 minutes in your home to gather history, observe your dog, clarify goals, and confirm Day Train is the most appropriate pathway. $80 (credited toward the program if you proceed).
  • Over the 4 weeks (8 x trainer-dog only sessions and 2 x transfer sessions):
    • 2 x 45-minute trainer and dog sessions per week - where your dog is coached in and around your home or local environment, using reward‑based, low‑stress methods
    • 2 x skill transfer sessions to guardians in weeks 2 and 4 - where you join in so you can handle your dog confidently and keep the new behaviours going between visits.
    • Brief photo/video updates and clear written notes outlining what was practised, how your dog responded, and simple homework to maintain progress.
  • Investment: $800 per package (Payment can be made in full or in two parts (half at consultation, then the remaining balance by the start of week 2).
  • Additional sessions: Single sessions available at $80/session once your initial program is complete.

Help your dog feel genuinely safe, prepared and cooperative for vet visits, grooming and everyday care. This one‑on‑one package focuses on low‑stress, positive husbandry skills so handling becomes predictable and manageable for both of you.

Who Cooperative Care is for

  • Dogs aged 6+ months who struggle with vet visits, grooming, body handling, or routine husbandry
  • Guardians who want these experiences to be kinder and more predictable.

What we work on

  • Teaching your dog clear, consent‑style behaviours to start and pause care procedures, and building trust in handling through choice and slow, achievable steps.
  • Coaching you to recognise early stress signals, set realistic criteria, and advocate for your dog in vet and grooming contexts.

Focus areas

  • Handling foundations: mat work, calm stand, collar touches, and simple consent cues (e.g. chin rest, stationing) that tell you when your dog is ready to continue.
  • Grooming skills: introducing tools, tail and paw work to prepare for nail trims and basic grooming without force.
  • Vet‑style exams: low‑stress body checks, ears/eyes/mouth handling, lifting, exam positions, and short “mock” check‑ups to rehearse success.
  • Home‑care routines: cooperative harnessing, muzzle training (if needed), medication prep where appropriate, ear/eye care, crate/carrier work, and calmer car‑to‑clinic transitions.

Program structure / pricing

  • Required Initial Consultation: 60 minutes in your home to gather history, observe your dog, clarify goals, and confirm Cooperative Care is the most appropriate pathway. $80 (credited toward the program if you proceed).
  • 5-week Program: 1 x 45-minute to 60‑minute session per week, primarily in‑home with the option to include carefully chosen “field trips” (e.g. clinic carpark) as your dog is ready.
  • Investment: $325 per package (includes owner coaching, personalised plan and between‑session support).
  • Additional sessions: single session available at $65/session for progression, or extra support around specific procedures.

Sniffari sessions are “sniff walks” that prioritise your dog’s nose and emotional wellbeing, not step counts. These sessions are ideal for dogs who need decompression, extra enrichment, confidence in the real world or an outing while you're at work.Dogs experience the world primarily through scent, and research shows that sniff-focused walks can reduce stress, lower heart rate, and provide mental stimulation equivalent to much longer, fast-paced exercise walks. These decompression-style outings help many dogs feel calmer, less reactive and more content back at home.

What we work on

  • Sniff‑based decompression walks that prioritise agency and exploration over distance or pace, helping lower arousal and support emotional regulation.
  • Light life‑skills woven in (check‑ins, direction changes, simple pattern games) only as appropriate to each dog’s capacity on the day.

Focus areas

  • Decompression: slow, sniff‑heavy routes on a long line or standard lead, with careful environmental choices to minimise overwhelming encounters.
  • Emotional wellbeing: supporting anxious, over‑aroused, or high‑energy dogs to self‑regulate better through structured, choice‑rich outings.
  • Functional skills: voluntary check‑ins, following gentle direction changes, settling in the environment, and moving away from triggers when needed.

Program structure / pricing

  • Required initial consultation: 60 minutes in your home to gather history, observe your dog, clarify goals, and confirm whether sniffari's are the most appropriate pathway. $80 (credited toward the program if you proceed).
  • 4‑week sniffari: 2 x trainer-only sessions per week for 4 weeks, ideal for dogs needing regular decompression and consistent enrichment; $480. includes a brief summary after each outing - plus photos or short videos - so you can see where your dog went, what they explored, and how they coped.
  • 4‑week Sniffari (standard): 1 session per week for 4 weeks, for ongoing support alongside your own walks; $240. includes a brief summary after each outing - plus photos or short videos - so you can see where your dog went, what they explored, and how they coped.
  • Casual Sniffari: individual sessions at $60. includes a brief summary after each outing - plus photos or short videos - so you can see where your dog went, what they explored, and how they coped.

FAQS (DOGS)

Please send an inquiry, if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  1. Send an inquiry
  2. We discuss your dog and goals.
  3. We confirm if this is the right fit for both of us.
  4. You book in for your package/training session.

  1. We discuss your dog's history, your goals, any safety concerns, and past experiences.
  2. We listen to understand what brought you to us.
  3. We're honest about whether our approach is right for your situation.
  4. We answer questions so you feel confident before committing.

*There's no obligation - this is about making sure we're the right fit for you. If we think your dog would benefit more from a different trainer, specialist, or professional (vet, behaviourist, etc.), we'll tell you. Our goal is what's best for your dog, even if that's not us.

Our training works well if:

  • You're committed to consistent home practice (3-4 times per week minimum).
  • You're open to learning alongside your dog (this isn't passive).
  • You want force-free, positive methods (no punishment or aversive equipment).
  • Your dog is generally safe to handle (even if they struggle with specific behaviours).
  • You're willing to invest time and focus on building a real partnership.

Our training may not be the best fit if:

  • Your dog has a history of serious aggression toward people or animals that we assess as a safety risk.
  • Your dog requires veterinary or behavioural medication beyond our scope.
  • You're looking for quick fixes rather than real behavioural change.
  • You want punishment-based or "dominance" training approaches.
  • Your lifestyle doesn't allow for consistent home practice.

We recommend starting puppy training as early as 8 weeks old, as this is when they are most receptive to learning and socialisation.

Sessions are held at your property so your dog learns in their own environment. This is crucial because:

  • Your dog is calm and familiar with the space.
  • We work with the actual environment where problems occur.
  • You learn in the context where you'll practice.

Treats are one tool in our training toolkit, but not the only one. Positive reinforcement comes in many forms:

  • High-value treats (small, tasty, quick to consume).
  • Verbal praise and affection.
  • Play and access to favourite toys or activities.
  • Environmental rewards (going outside, sniffing time, interaction with other dogs).

Most dogs are motivated by something. If food motivation is low, we identify what your dog finds rewarding and use that. Some dogs are toy-motivated; others are praise-motivated. We work with your individual dog's preferences.

We'll discuss this during your consultation.

Typically, you'll need:

  • Flat collar or harness (no choke chains, prong collars, or aversive equipment)
  • Leash (6-foot is typical)
  • High-value treats (small, tasty, easy to consume quickly)
  • Safe toys your dog likes

We can provide recommendations if you need specific equipment.

Our standard programs are 4 or 5-week packages with typically one session per week. However, results depend heavily on home practice between sessions.

Some dogs need additional time or follow-up sessions, depending on the complexity of the behaviour

Not yet! - stay tuned on my socials for when this will become available.

Not yet! - stay tuned on my socials for when this will become available.

Training is usually a steady progression. If you're not seeing progress:

  • First check: Are you doing home practice 3-4 times (at least) per week consistently?
  • Second check: Are you replicating the techniques exactly as shown?
  • Third check: Is your dog's stress level affecting learning?

We troubleshoot during sessions and adjust our approach as needed. Progress sometimes looks different from what was expected, and we help you recognise and celebrate it.

If, after honest assessment, our approach isn't working for your situation, we'll discuss alternatives, including referrals to other trainers or specialists.

We refer to veterinary behaviourists for:

  • Severe anxiety or OCD disorders that may need medication.
  • Neurological concerns (seizure-related behaviours, unexplained changes).
  • Potential aggression requiring medical evaluation.
  • Complex cases where behaviour and health intersect.

This doesn't mean we won't work with your dog - it means we're bringing in appropriate expertise.
